Karyn Lim is the Founder of Studio Karyn Lim, an independent multidisciplinary design studio based in Singapore. Trained in industrial design, she works across objects, furniture, lifestyle products and craft, exploring the relationship between materials, form and function through a considered and collaborative approach to making. 

Karyn holds a BA (Hons) in Industrial Design from the National University of Singapore and a Master of Advanced Studies in Design for Luxury and Craftsmanship from ECAL, the University of Art and Design Lausanne. Her design practice has been shaped by experience working across different disciplines and by mentorship from internationally recognised designers including Erwan Bouroullec and Sabine Marcelis. She has also developed work for brands including Marsotto, La Prairie, Samsung and Zanotta. 

Since establishing Studio Karyn Lim in 2015, she has developed a diverse body of work spanning furniture, objects, accessories and material-led design. Her projects include Lightness, which explores the transformation of wire into lightweight objects and accessories, and So Plast!c, a collection developed using recycled plastic waste. Her work has been presented internationally at Milan Design Week, Tokyo Design Week, DesignART Tokyo, SaloneSatellite and Expo 2025 Osaka, as well as through Singapore Design Week and EMERGE. 

Karyn's practice is grounded in an interest in material exploration, craftsmanship and the ways in which design can create new relationships between people and the objects around them. Alongside her studio practice, she has contributed to design education and industry conversations, speaking on subjects including creativity, technology and the evolving role of design in contemporary life.
